Adam has just graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. MAX STAFFORD-CLARK | DIRECTOR

Max is the Artistic Director of Out of Joint. He co-founded Joint Stock Theatre Group in 1974 following his Artistic Directorship of The Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. From 1979 to 1993 he was Artistic Director of The Royal Court Theatre. His work as a director has overwhelmingly been with new writing, and he has commissioned and directed first productions from writers including Sue Townsend, Stephen Jeffreys, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Sebastian Barry, April de Angelis, Mark Ravenhill, Andrea Dunbar, Robin Soans, Alistair Beaton, Stella Feehily, Sebastian Barry, David Hare and Caryl Churchill. Revivals include The SeagullThe Recruiting Officer and King Lear (Royal Court), A Jovial CrewThe Wives’ Excuse and The Country Wife (RSC), and The Man of ModeShe Stoops to ConquerThree Sisters and Macbeth (Out of Joint). Gabrielle worked on Out of Joint and Chichester’s production of Top Girls. She has cast over 30 productions for Chichester, many of which transferred to the West End including The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Singin’ in the Rain, The Browning Version/South Downs and Yes, Prime Minister. Other theatre includes Blithe Spirit, The King’s Speech, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Three Days of Rain (West End), The Norman Conquests (Old Vic and Broadway) and productions for the National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Headlong and Theatre Royal Bath.

TIM HOARE | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Tim is currently an associate director at Out of Joint and was recently a staff director at the National Theatre, assisting Sam Mendes on King Lear. He was co-founder and Artistic Director of Chichester Festival Theatre’s “Festival on the Fly”, a temporary venue celebrating CFT’s 50th season, for which he directed the world premiere of Penelope Skinner’s play Fred’s Diner. Other directing work includes What People Do (Old Vic Tunnels/Viscera Theatre); Yes, Prime Minister (redirection of a production by Jonathan Lynn, CFT and national tour); Number 1 (Bush Theatre); Henry V Trafalgar Studios/National Theatre Tbilisi, Georgia); Bash (Barons Court Theatre). As an associate and assistant director, work for Chichester Festival Theatre includes South Downs and The Browning Version (transferring to the Harold Pinter Theatre, West End), Top Girls (Out of Joint, tour and Trafalgar Studios), Alice in WonderlandThe Master BuilderPygmalion and Yes, Prime Minister; and Eigengrau (Bush Theatre); Slaves (Theatre 503).

Jonathan’s credits include The Recruiting Officer (Chichester Festival Theatre), The Play That Goes Wrong (Mischief Theatre/Kenny Wax), Richard II and Twelfth Night (Shakespeare’s Globe on Broadway), Between Empires (Orange Tree/Edinburgh Festival), ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore and Macbeth (Cheek by Jowl), Four Nights in Knaresborough and The Canterbury Tales (Southwark Playhouse), Love’s Labour’s Lost, Romeo and Juliet, Richard III, Edward II and Richard II (Shakespeare’s Globe), Mad Forest and Romeo and Juliet (BAC), Where There’s a Will, Far From the Madding Crowd, The Changeling and Mother Courage (ETT), They Have Oak Trees in North Carolina (Tristan Bates Theatre), Rough Crossings (Headlong), Alpha Beta (NT Studio), Some Voices (Young Vic).
