Inspired by Andrea Dunbar, our Artistic Director Kate Wasserberg and Education Officer Gina Abolins wanted to create an opportunity to nurture today’s young female writers. So, in the Autumn, writers Rachel De-Lahay and Laura Lomas began working with eight young, female first time writers from Bolton and London. Their short plays will be read as part The Andrea Project:

The Andrea Project

On Sat 20 Jan a group of young female creatives are curating a day of free events inspired by the life and work of Andrea Dunbar.

This will include readings of new plays by eight young female first time writers, which have developed through writing workshops led by Laura Lomas and Rachel De-lahay in Bolton and London, as well as a series of events exploring themes from Dunbar’s work and her legacy.

The group curating the day is made up of female artist and makers who have been involved in our 2015 – 17 Young Court programme of work. The work is part of the Young Court’s mission is to expand the Royal Court’s commitment to new voices through ambitious work with young people and communities.
